Services:
A complete eye examination involves dilating the pupils
so that the doctor can see the structures in the back of the eye. Dilation
is accomplished through the use of eye drops. After the doctor has examined
the external portion of your eye and checked your vision, a measure of
your eye power, known as a refraction will be done. A test for glaucoma
is also included as part of the complete eye exam.
When you come in for you routine exam, you should bring
your eye glasses or contacts, a pair of sunglasses to wear until the drops
wear off, and a list of all the medications you are currently taking.
The effects of the drops usually last several hours. You may be sensitive
to bright light and find that your near vision is blurred. Your exam will
take approximately one hour.
